15 Oct Guitar player portrait photography shoot

We recently had the pleasure of working with local musician Paul Delazzer.

Paul is the nicest guy, a great musician and vocalist… and has the coolest head of dreadies!

The goal of the shoot was to build a collection of images to use for various marketing applications.

The photo shoot took place in our studio. A studio is basically an empty box that you get to fill with your imagination! And working with such a great subject, we were pretty excited!

Here is a behind the scenes shot to show you what the eyeballs see…

Guitar player portrait - behind the scenes

Pretty uninspiring to look at as-is, but full of possibilities. Through use of colour and light it is amazing what can be achieved.

We started off with some “safe” musician portraits.

We then mixed it up a little and started working some different poses and lighting configurations…

And then finally we brought out the smoke machine for the image at the top to create a “live on stage” look. All of this in a simple studio against a grey backdrop.

We really love these assignments. It’s a chance to step out of the box a little, experiment and create some striking images.
